Second-generation chauffeur Matt Sheppard from Waterloo, N.Y. capped off another successful season Saturday evening, Dec. 17, as over 170 drivers, owners, crew members, track officials, corporate partners and friends of racing filled the Vineyard Room of the Finger Lakes Casino & Racetrack in Farmington, New York to officially bring to a close the 48th season of auto racing during the 2011 Canandaigua Motorsports Park Awards Banquet.

Speedway's best honored in awards ceremony Dec. 17 at Finger Lakes Casino & Racetrack
November 7, 2011 - The 2011 Canandaigua Motorsports Park Awards Banquet is set for December 17 in the popular Vineyard Room of the Finger Lakes Casino & Racetrack located on Route 96 in Farmington, N.Y. The season-ending celebration will honor the best of the Original Pizza Logs Big-Block Modified, NAPA Sportsman Modified, Parts Plus Street Stock and Klein Steel Direct Pure Stock divisions to officially close out Canandaigua's 48th year of auto racing, the first under promoter Jeremie Corcoran and family in his partnership with the Ontario County Fair Society.
Recognition of 2011 CMP point champions Matt Sheppard (Original Pizza Logs Big-Block) from Waterloo, Dan Wiesner (NAPA Sportsman) from Geneva, Mike Welch (Parts Plus Street) from Lyons and Marc Minutolo (Klein Steel Pure) from Newark will highlight the year-end finale, with trophies presented to the Top-5 point-getters in all four divisions and the Top-10 Big-Block and Sportsman and Top-5 Street Stock and Pure Stock finishers awarded their point fund checks during the evening. All drivers must be present to receive their awards and point fund checks.
The CMP management would like to extend special thanks to Klein Steel for providing the custom-designed trophies to all recipients, as well as to contingency award partners NAPA of the Fingerlakes, Parts Plus of Macedon, ABC Supply (Bradco), Wrisco, Five Star Race Car Bodies and Promotion Custom Metal Fab. Along with a handful of individual honors, in random draws held during the evening Promotion Custom Metal Fab will be giving away a pair (Big-Block & Sportsman) of body packages to drivers that competed in 100% of the events held at Canandaigua Motorsports Park this season.
A buffet-style dinner will kick off the gala affair at 7:00 pm followed by presentation of the awards, with gaming and live music available on the premises afterwards. The 10,000 square-feet buffet offers many savory selections including traditional American and regional favorites, Mediterranean and Southwest cuisines, Asian station, fresh carved selections, rotating baked potato/taco bar, pasta station, full salad bar featuring peel and eat shrimp, hot crab plus a delicious dessert bar complete with cake, pastry, pie and soft-serve ice cream.
Since 1962, the Finger Lakes race track has been the premier venue for live thoroughbred racing in Western New York. In 2004, the excitement of over 1,000 video gaming machines was added, as well as new dining and entertainment options. The facility once again expanded in '06 with the addition of a 280-seat buffet restaurant and space for additional video gaming machines, bringing that total to nearly 1,200.
