Mother Nature has had a different plan than us for the start of the 2014 racing season at Canandaigua Motorsports Park. Open practice that was scheduled for Saturday April 5th was postponed to Tuesday April 8th, and today we have had to cancel that.
Jeremie Corcoran says the track itself is in pretty good shape and could be ready with just a few dry days. The Pit area and Parking is a different story. The heavy snow that we got on Saturday March 29th has saturated these areas so much that haulers and cars would not fare well.
We are still hopeful to kick off our regular season on Saturday April 12th at 6:00pm with a full card of Big Block Modifieds, Safety Awareness Solutions Sportsman, Parts Plus Pro/Street Stocks, Dig Safely 305 Sprints, Pure Stocks, and New Legends Sportsman.
We will evaluate ground conditions over the weekend and keep you informed.
If you have any questions you may contact Greg Emerson at 585-624-1509 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
All drivers, all classes, MUST fill out a new registration form for the 2014 season at Canandaigua Motorsports Park. Last years is not acceptable. Below is a link to download the form, print off, and fill out. You can bring the form to the track on opening night and hand in to Greg Emerson in the Pit Area. We will also have forms available to be filled out at the track opening night.
2014 Driver Registration Form Download (PDF)
Very important - Drivers will not get paid unless we have a 2014 Registration on file.
If you have any questions you may contact Greg Emerson at 585-624-1509 or email email@example.com.
The MPR Driving School schedule for April 5th and 6th at Canandaigua Motorsports Park has been rescheduled.
It will be held on Sunday, April 13th - one day only - from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm.
If you have any questions, please contact Mike Payne by email at firstname.lastname@example.org or by calling (585) 738-2433.
For the 2014 season at Canandaigua Motorsports Park we have made a few adjustments to the rules for the Sportsman and for the 305-4 Wheelers.
The Sportsman will be required to be on a Modified tire (Hoosier) by June 7th race night at CMP. You may begin the season on Mod tires or continue to run the Sportsman tire until that cutoff date.
You may run either steel OR aluminum wheels. If you are running steel wheels the weight is 2350#. If you are running aluminum wheels your weight must be 2400#.
The 4 wheelers for the the 305 Sprints MUST have a one way radio. We have listened to some of your concerns with the 4 wheelers and are allowing you to go back to your pits instead of the infield which is why we are requiring the one way radio.
If you have any car tech questions please call our Head of Tech, Jim Hixson at 585-414-6693. Any other race specific questions should be directed to Race Director Greg Hixson at 315-945-8800

CANANDAIGUA, NEW YORK_ With the ink dried on the 2013 season, Canandaigua Motorsports Park General Manager Jeremie Corcoran is busy working on the 2014 season. Corcoran, ready to start his fourth season at the Ontario County Fairgrounds in the Central New York region, will have an exciting schedule announced very soon. Right now, Jeremie has three division sponsors in the fold for the upcoming season.
Dig Safely New York, Safety Awareness Solutions and Parts Plus will all return to Canandaigua Motorsports Park as sponsors for the upcoming season. It will be Dig Safely’s first attempt at a division sponsor after spending years as a presenting sponsor. The will sponsor the 305 Racesaver Sprint Car Division.
World Racing Group contacted Jeremie to inform him that DIRT will NOT sanction the Jan Corocoran Memorial 64L, $6,400 to win race, on April 19, 2014 at Canandaigua Motorsports Park. It is unfortunate that they made this decision but the show will go on!
We are going to have some fun with this show now! On Friday April 18th we will have Two Hot Lap sessions for the Big Blocks and the fastest time in each will be guaranteed starts on Saturday in the 6th and 4th position. (in honor of Jan Corcoran) We will give bonus money to the 2nd ($200) and 3rd ($100)fastest in each Hot Lap session. Saturday night will then be a draw for position EXCEPT for the 6th & 4th guaranteed starters from Friday.
We are working on Sponsors now for more possible bonus money for Friday night
We will have a great card of racing for Friday night and Saturday night to kick off the year! This will be a points night. Full schedule is being developed now.
If you are a current Pure Stock competitor or are going to be in 2014 at Canandaigua Motorsports Park, we are having an open meeting for this class on Saturday January 18th, 1 - 3pm at the Villager Restaurant on Main Street Canandaigua.
We have not changed any rules for this class from 2013 but this meeting will be to discuss safety and answer any questions there may be. The meeting will be facilitated by our Head Tech Inspector Jim Hixson. Assistant Rob Noaker will also be there along with Race Director Greg Hixson and track Rep Greg Emerson.
Cananadaigua Motorsports Park has expanded the track-side marketing opportunities to include "Party in the Pavilion" and other opportunities. Enjoy visibility for your business, or just entertain your friends and family! Download the 2014 Marketing Brochure to see what's available.
Marketing and sponsorship opportunities should be directed to:
GENEVA, NY (November 30th)_ Matt Sheppard of Waterloo, NY was one of five 2013 division champions honored last Saturday night at the Club 86 in Geneva, NY as the racing star won his fourth Modified title at the Canandaigua Motorsports Park.
Kevin Ridley, Mike Welch, Mike Minutolo and Darryl Ruggles also won championships.
It was also the third in a row for Sheppard at CMP. Sheppard and Billy Dunn went down to the final night of racing with Sheppard getting his seventh win of the season, propelling him into the 2013 title.
“It really could’ve gone either way on that final night,” said Sheppard, who came into the night seven points behind Dunn. “We really had a good car all season long and especially at the end.”
Along with the seven wins, Sheppard also had 14 top ten five finishes and told the audience that he would be back again at CMP in 2014.
For Billy Dunn, who also said that he would be back at CMP in 2014, it was a good season, He finished second in Modified points, just 32 behind Sheppard when it was all over.
“We picked up our program100% racing here at Canandaigua,” said Dunn. “Every week, you are running against a series like field. That really helps.”
Super DIRT Series racing returns to CMP on April 19th, 2014 for the Jan Corcoran Memorial 64L race!
This Memorial race is very important to Jeremie and having it an SDS race will add much to it. So mark your calendar at get ready for some fantastic Big Block racing early in the 2014 season at the "Land of Legends"
Also, Sportsman may run aluminum wheels but will need to add 50#. Sportsman also will be required to be on a Mod Tire by June 1st. They may begin the season on them or use up tires they have before the June 1 deadline.
After some very deliberate considerations, CMP Promoter, Jeremie Corcoran, has decided on some signficant changes to this class.
For the 2014 season, CMP is adopting Can Am's and Utica/Rome's Pro Stock rules. Canandaigua Motorsports Park will not have its own rules for its ProStreet Stock Class. Competitors at CMP will be allowed to run either of these rule packages, or a combination of the two. (View the Rules page to download the current rules.)
The goal at CMP is to open up this class to additional competitors and bring some unity in rules. We are aware that this decision will be welcomed by some, and not by others. It is our intention to do what is best for the class as a whole.
Visit the rules page for full details.
Any questions regarding these changes, please contact Tech Director, Jim Hixson at (585) 414-6693.
There will be a meeting at the Parts Peddler Show on Saturday November 23rd at 11:am for all CNY 305 Racesaver Sprints. French Grimes will be there along with CMP promoter Jeremie Corcoran and Black Rock promoter Dean Hoag.
This will be an informational meeting for current drivers and also a good meeting for anyone who would like to find out more about this class. We look forward to seeing everyone there.
"In 2014, the Sportsman class at CMP will be allowed to run aluminum wheels (steel will be allowed also with a weight break). Also, Sportsman will be running a Modified Tire, which will be required by June 1st, 2014. The tire manufacturer shall be determined in the very near future"
Canandaigua Motorsports Park
Canandaigua, NY – Oct. 24, 2013 – Dave Roberts, Canandaigua Motorsports Park PR Correspondent
After running their first full season in 2013 at the Canandaigua Motorsports Park in Canandaigua, NY, the 305 Sprints will be added to nearby Black Rock Speedway and it's 2014 schedule.
The quick open wheel race division that produced fast speeds on the high banks at Canandaigua Motorsports Park is figuring to do the same at the Dundee.New York based one-third mile oval. The additional track is figuring to also add competitors to the program.
The division will continue under the RaceSaver sanction for both tracks.
"This will be an excellent division for both tracks," said CMP track promoter Jeremie Corcoran. "I know that Dean Hoag (Black Rock track owner) is looking forward to having the class at his track on Friday nights."
"They should be fast here," said Hoag of his Black Rock Speedway. "I figure that they should do lap times in the fourteen second range, which is pretty fast at our track."
While plans are still in the beginning stages, stay tuned to both canandaiguamotorsportspark.com and blackrockspeedway.com for more information. More on the 305 Sprints will be released as off-season plans continue.
Pure Stocks to Remain the Same at CMP for 2014.
The Pure Stocks will return to Canandaigua Motorsports Park in 2014 with no changes to the rules. We are excited to have this group of competitors back racing at the Land of Legends for the 2014 season.
We will have an announcement about the Street Stock class, and some rule adjustments for the 2014 season, in a few weeks.
