2011 Canandaigua Motorsports Park Schedule Sparkles With 21 Shows
Numerous special events highlight the ‘Land of Legends’ upcoming season, with DIRTcar Big-Block Modified, Sportsman Modified, Parts Plus Stock Car and Rochester Steel Pure Stock divisions taking center stage to headline the weekly Saturday night program at the storied Ontario County Fairgrounds oval.
“There’s still a lot of ground to cover in the next couple months but we’ve already got a solid schedule in place with plenty of race teams committed and sponsors coming back on board every week,” remarked CMP Promoter Jeremie Corcoran, in anticipation of his first season guiding the storied half-mile clay oval nestled in the heart of New York State’s Finger Lakes region.
“From day one our goal is to present the best Saturday night race program in the area, providing some great action while maintaining a first-rate facility. We want to give the loyal fans in Canandaigua a track to be proud of and keep them coming back week after week to experience the best in local racing,” Corcoran added.
2011 Canandaigua Motorsports Park season passes are on sale with racers saving $130 by purchasing in advance a 2011 speedway pit pass for $395. Race teams receive an additional bonus as with the purchase of five (5) pit passes, the next one is FREE. In the grandstands, a Canandaigua season pass ---including reserved seat--- is $200.00 while a reserved seat alone is being offered for $40.
The cost of admission for a regular show ---Big-Block Modified 35-laps feature, Sportsman-25L, Stock Car-20L, Pure Stock-15L--- is $12-Adults and Youths 16 yrs. & under FREE. A weekly pit pass has been set at $25 for members and $27 for non-members.
The 2011 campaign kicks off Sat. April 9 with a four-star program of Big-Blocks, Sportsman, Stock Cars and Pure Stocks, followed the next weekend by the inaugural Jan Corcoran Memorial featuring a 64-lap Big-Block Modified main. With the exception of July 30 (closed for Ontario Co. Fair) and Aug. 6 (Mudapalooza Mud Bogs), the speedway will be busy every Saturday through Sept. 3 with those same four classes leading the way.
Sportsman title contenders move to the forefront April 30 when the historic Routes 5 & 20 speedplant plays host to a Mr. DIRTcar Championship Series event. Fans join in the trackside activity May 7 with 1-on-1 Backward Spectator Races, then get another opportunity July 9 with 1-on-1 Spectator Drag Races filling the bill.
Youngsters get their own chance to shine under the spotlight when Kids Power Wheels Races fill the frontstretch June 18, with mom and dad encouraged to take part in Family Autograph Nite both May 28 and July 23. Bring along the entire family and have all your friends join in on June 25 as speedway management offers $20 Car-Load Nite.
Everyone will want to be in attendance June 4 when Bradco Supply Co. presents a first-ever fairgrounds appearance by Hall of Fame racer A.J. Foyt’s own ABC Supply Indy Car, with a surprise visit by the world-renowned team owner certainly not out of the question. Fireworks fill the sky over Canandaigua Motorsports Park on July 2 as a full house and full field of Midstate Vintage Stock Cars are expected to help celebrate Independence Day over the festive holiday weekend.
The first of two winged sprint car specials is slated for May 14, with the Patriot Sprint Tour returning to Canandaigua for an unprecedented ninth straight season. During the traditional Cup Weekend at nearby Watkins Glen, the Lucas Oil Empire Super Sprint Series is on the docket Aug. 13 to make its 22nd appearance in wine country since 1985. In between, the Spring season sizzles with a $1,000-to-win Demolition Derby capping off the May 21 card.
On July 16 the popular Mod Lites make their first stop at ‘The Land of Legends’ and are back for a return engagement Aug. 20 before the curtain finally drops over Labor Day Weekend with coveted track championships on the line in all four divisions.
